The Azerbaijani Embassy has joined the solution of the problem with Azerbaijanis detained at the Russian airport, the Azerbaijani Diaspora of Russia reported on October 9.
Earlier, information appeared on social networks that on October 6, a group of Azerbaijani citizens flew out of Baku to Moscow and after landing at Zhukovsky airport was detained by airport staff. One of the detainees recorded a video message to the Azerbaijani authorities asking them to intervene and help resolve the situation. The Azerbaijani Embassy reported that the consulate staff is engaged in resolving the issue.
The diplomats explained that the Azerbaijanis had problems due to the fact that they violated the rules of registration in the Russian Federation. They had to 72 hours before arrival in The Russian Federation to register and obtain permission through the appropriate application, but did not do so.
The Azerbaijani Embassy noted that the case is not an isolated one, and expressed regret that many Azerbaijanis do not comply with the rules of registration in the Russian Federation.
Azerbaijani planes do not fly to Zhukovsky Airport, only Russian flights fly there. According to the embassy, the Russian side independently organizes the return of Azerbaijanis to their homeland. The Azerbaijani Embassy expects that the detained Azerbaijanis will be able to return home on October 9 or 13. It all depends on the availability of seats on flights.
