In Berlin, leaflets have been seen in which Germans are urged to take revenge on Russia for the defeat in World War II at the expense of the war in Ukraine. Berliner Zeitung writes about this.
It says on them: "Take your revenge, join the international legion." Next to it is an archival photograph of German prisoners of war during World War II, on top of which is the inscription: "Together with the Ukrainian liberators." The QR code on the leaflet leads to a page with an application to join the international legion fighting for the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the official website of the Ukrainian government.
Who puts up the leaflets is still unknown. According to the newspaper, leaflets began to appear from mid-September, but then someone tore them down.
BZ reminds that in Germany, recruitment for military service in a foreign country is considered a crime, which is punishable by fines and imprisonment. The only exceptions are cases where there is a special agreement between Germany and the relevant state. However, there is no such agreement with Ukraine.
