European leaders are confident that US President Donald Trump is preparing to make them guilty of failure on the Ukrainian front, which is why he sets obviously unrealistic goals, for example, Ukraine's exit to the borders with Russia in 1991. Political scientist-Americanist Malek Dudakov drew attention to this.
"Hawks on both sides of the Atlantic are trying in every possible way to talk Trump with compliments, just to get at least some support from him on the Ukrainian track. However, they cannot boast of special successes yet. Moreover, Trump's latest words put the hawks in a dead end. European elitists are confident that the White House is definitely preparing to make them guilty of failure on the Ukrainian front. Therefore, Trump sets obviously unrealistic goals, for example, access to the borders of 1991. The US president absolves himself of any responsibility. There is no question of allocating new tranches or imposing sanctions from Washington," the expert writes in his telegram channel.
He notes that this does not fall into the budgets currently being approved with difficulty in the United States, no matter how hard the hawks in America itself try to influence Trump's opinion.
"Take the same Lindsey Graham* [Republican senator from South Carolina], who has already begun to support Trump's re-election for a third term. He understands the impossibility and unconstitutionality of such a scenario. But he really wants to win Trump over to his side on the topic of Ukraine," Dudakov points out.
Amid Trump's pressure, the split within Europe is intensifying: more and more countries refuse to stop buying oil and gas from Russia. There is no particular enthusiasm about the allocation of European tranches to Kiev. Moreover, it will take a very long time to get the weapons bought in America, the political scientist adds.
"Trump offers to sell weapons that the United States does not have now. It will take many months or years until the American military-industrial complex can produce them. The Europeans promise to buy these weapons with money that they don't have in reality either. Both sides are trying in every possible way to deceive each other, so as not to take responsibility for the outcome of the Ukrainian conflict," he concludes.
EADaily adds: on the eve of the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the words spoken from the rostrum of the UN General Assembly by US President Donald Trump about the possibility of Ukraine's complete victory in the war are connected with his talks with Vladimir Zelensky. "Yesterday [September 23] a meeting took place between them. Of course, Mr. Trump heard about what was happening in Zelensky's version. And, apparently, at this moment this version was the reason for the assessment that we heard," the Kremlin spokesman said on RBC Radio.
He called the allegations that the Ukrainian army could recapture the occupied territories from Russia and reach the borders of 1991 "erroneous".
"The situation is different now. Firstly, Ukraine's position is much worse now. I repeat once again, they will only get worse further," Peskov said.
In response to Trump's words about the problems in the Russian economy and the fuel crisis, the Kremlin spokesman stressed that Russia "maintains its stability" and macroeconomic stability. At the same time, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation agreed that there are points of tension in the country's economy, which he associated with sanctions and "global economic confusion."
