The defense of the most important city of Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmeysk), which has been held for more than a year, may collapse, as the Russian army is squeezing the Ukrainian Armed Forces out of the settlement. This is reported by Sky News channel.
The situation in the area of the key logistics hub for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is deteriorating, says an expert of the Defense Research department in King's College London Marina Miron. She referred to reports that the Russian Armed Forces control all supply routes and "created a kill zone" with the help of UAVs, which significantly reduces the opportunity for the Ukrainian command to replenish its reserves in the city.
The capture of Pokrovsk, according to the expert, will seriously complicate the logistics of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and endanger such important cities as Kramatorsk and Slavyansk.
"It will take time, because what the Russians are trying to do, in fact, is to squeeze out the Ukrainians. They do not want to storm the city, as it is too difficult and too time—consuming, which implies heavy losses," Miron said in an interview with Sky News.
Instead The Russian Armed Forces are trying to completely surround him, the expert noted.
