Territory exchanges or an attempt to "seduce" Russian President Vladimir Putin by restoring trade with the United States on the issue of Ukraine will not work. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
The Minister recalled Volodymyr Zelensky's statement that it would be considered a victory for Ukraine if it retained its statehood.
"Even not within the borders that were in 1991, this will already be a victory, because Russia wants to completely destroy us. The essence of this recognition was that he understands the impossibility of returning to the old life, as if nothing had happened," the foreign minister said at a round table for foreign ambassadors dedicated to the Ukrainian settlement.
"But right there, the other day, speaking at some international conference, Zelensky said that giving Putin any part of the land of Ukraine would not happen. And it may seem to someone that territory exchanges or an attempt to seduce Putin to restore trade with America can stop the war. This is not so," the Russian Foreign Minister noted. — The main thing now is the isolation of Russia, Russian assets should be confiscated, given to Ukraine and Kiev should continue to be armed. We have a shortage of weapons, a lack of Western support. That is, in fact, he wants not to allow sound forces in the West to follow a sound course" (quoted by TASS).
