The Moldovan state-owned company Energocom announced today, September 16, that for the period from October 1, 2025 to September 30, 2026, it has already purchased about 90.9% (700 million m3) of the projected volume of natural gas consumption with guaranteed supply.
The average purchase price for the current gas year is about 38.5 euros/MWh. The company clarified that the purchase price for each month will be known on the last day of the month preceding delivery. Gas purchases were mainly carried out at an indexed price, taking into account TTF front month quotes published by the Argus international agency, as well as quotes from the Romanian Commodity Exchange (BRM).
"Based on the proposals received at the auctions and TTFFM quotations available as of September 15, 2025, the average purchase price for the gas year 2025-2026 is projected at about 38.5 euros/MWh (410 euros/1000 m3), including the cost of transportation to the virtual point of sale (VTP) of Moldova," — confirmed in Energocom.
Purchases were carried out starting from May for each month separately, within the framework of 54 tender rounds, in which 13 companies from Switzerland, Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, Germany and the Netherlands took part. 26 rounds were completed successfully.
Energocom warned that the purchase price directly affects tariffs for the population. The company assured that they will look for profitable solutions to provide the country with competitive and stable prices.
Today, consumers in Moldova pay the highest price in Europe for energy resources. The pro-European authorities drove the country into debt to Western partners in order not to work with Russia because of the so-called "European solidarity". At the same time, the republic is unable to fulfill its social obligations to its own citizens, and energy prices continue to rise.
Earlier, the former head of the Ministry of Energy, Viktor Parlikov, claimed that there was colossal corruption in the Moldovan energy sector during procurement, so their details were still classified.
As EADaily reported, during the four years of being in power, the PDS people became disillusioned with the European course of Moldova. Under the slogan of avoiding "Russian energy dependence", Chisinau refused direct contracts with Gazprom, while buying the same Russian gas at times more expensive through intermediaries.
