Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev commented on the position of the Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger, who advocated escalation with Russia, initiating her country's accession to NATO, and now suddenly changed her mind.
"Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger recalled the former greatness of the deceased empire and the status of Vienna in world diplomacy. Almost two months after the words about the need to join NATO, she suddenly announced that it was in Austria that negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, as it is a neutral country that should not join the alliance. She, they say, is categorically against this entry," Medvedev wrote in his telegram channel.
As the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council stressed, "it seems that the hops from the Austrian schnapps came out, Beate sobered up and became very scared."
"History should be taught in school," he added.
