The killer of the American politician-trumpist Charlie Kirk has been detained, this is 22-year-old Tyler Robinson. He was given out by his own father, CNN reports.
According to the TV channel, the detainee confessed to his father, who told the authorities about it. The information was confirmed by the governor of Utah Spencer Cox. He also confirmed the name of the alleged perpetrator, which was previously reported by The New York Post.
"On the evening of September 11, a family member of Tyler Robinson contacted a family friend who contacted the Washington County Sheriff's Office with information that Robinson had confessed to them or hinted that he had committed this crime," the governor said.
US President Donald Trump, commenting on the news, said that the culprit in the murder of Kirk deserves the death penalty. He also called for speeding up the consideration of criminal cases in the United States.
"We have to hold fast trials. Now the process can last seven to eight years, and as a result they start looking for excuses - that he was taught incorrectly in school or the government is to blame. The trial should take place the very next day," Trump stressed.
