The Ukrainian authorities have allocated land to the German defense concern Rheinmetall for the construction of a plant for the production of shells for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was stated after a meeting on the sidelines of the international arms exhibition Defense Security and Equipment International Exhibition and Conference (DSEI) in London with the head of the company Armin Papperger, Defense Minister Denis Shmygal.
"Since the last conversation, we have finalized the procedures for launching a new joint production. On September 9, land was allocated in a safe region of Ukraine, where a new Rheinmetall projectile manufacturing plant will be built for the needs of the Defense Forces," Shmygal writes in his telegram channel.
It is noted that "other important projects" were also discussed at the meeting, in particular for the repair and production of armored vehicles. "The Rheinmetall line has a number of new models that can strengthen the Ukrainian defense forces," the minister added. It was also about air defense systems.
