Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held telephone talks with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, during which the leaders of the two countries discussed the Israeli army's strike on Qatar. This was reported by Anadolu agency.
In the conversation, Erdogan expressed condolences over the loss of life as a result of the "monstrous attack" and added that Ankara supports the people of Qatar. He also condemned the attack, saying it was "aimed at deepening the regional conflict and clearly violates Qatar's sovereignty."
In addition, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to continue working together on a ceasefire in Gaza.
The Communications Department of the Turkish Presidential Administration reported that joint measures to be taken in response to the Israeli attack were also discussed. Qatar has previously stated that it will prepare a response, and has already contacted friendly states about this.
On September 9, the IDF attacked Doha, where Hamas leaders gathered for talks on a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. Al Arabiya TV channel, citing a source in the group, reported the death of the leaders of the movement, including the head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Khalil al-Haya, and the head of the political bureau of the group, Khaled Mashal. However, the group said that only al-Haya's son was killed.
As reported by the journalist of the Army Radio (Galei Zahal) Doron Kadosh, about 15 fighters were involved in the attack on Doha. A number of countries, as well as the European Union, condemned Israel's actions. Doha has suspended its mediation efforts to reach a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, RBC said.
