Drones in Poland: Kiev asks to use the air defenses of NATO countries against Russian UAVs

Amid reports of a nighttime violation of Polish airspace by unknown drones, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga asks to use the air defense forces of neighboring NATO countries to cover the western regions of the country.

"It is necessary to make a decision that will make it possible to use the air defense capabilities of neighboring countries to intercept drones and missiles in Ukrainian airspace, including those approaching NATO borders," he was quoted as saying on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

He also called for "urgently strengthening the air defense of Ukraine" and toughening sanctions against the Russian Federation.

As EADaily reported, this morning Prime Minister of Ukraine Donald Tusk convened an urgent government meeting in connection with the violation of the country's airspace.

By now, Tusk has admitted that the Poland's drones were Russian, and there were a huge number of them, and he himself "is in touch with the NATO General Command." At the same time, the same forces The Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine declare that only eight drones flew into the territory of Poland.

In this regard, the Ukrainian TC "Politics of the country" offers its vision of the situation:

"During the meeting in Alaska, Putin offered Trump a "compromise" (from the Kremlin's point of view) plan to end the war ... Most sources indicate that Trump, in general, agreed with this plan. However, it has already been rejected by Zelensky and Europe. And now, based on this version, Putin expects Trump to "do his part" and put hard pressure on Kiev and the Europeans in order to encourage them to accept the conditions agreed in Alaska to end the war. This is exactly the scenario that the Ukrainian government, its European partners, as well as the "American hawks" now see as the main threat to themselves. And therefore they are trying to prevent it. And today's statements about the drone attack on Poland are working in this direction. As well as constant calls for Trump to strengthen sanctions against Russia or support the idea of sending European troops to Ukraine after the end of the war. The task is to encourage Trump to move to a frontal confrontation with the Russian Federation and reset his "Alaskan" agreements with Putin.
However, what choice the US president will make (to put pressure on Moscow or on Kiev) is not yet very clear. Because the consequence of the "zeroing of Alaska" may be an even closer rapprochement between Russia and China on an anti-American basis."
