The European Union has been defeated in a number of key areas, including the Ukrainian conflict. This was stated by MEP and vice-chairman of the Italian League party Roberto Vannacci at a debate on Ukraine in the European Parliament.

The MEP added that the EU was defeated in the Ukrainian conflict, "thinking that it is possible to win with sanctions, loud statements and propaganda."

According to Vannacci, today the European Union "continues to fail in the issue of " achieving peace and "security guarantees."

"Because there is no guarantee without the risk of having to fight, if necessary," the MEP said, according to TASS.

As reported, the Italian authorities had previously ruled out the possibility of sending their military to Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum, said that NATO troops, appearing at the In Ukraine, they will become legitimate targets for the Russian army.
