Tatarstan will not be represented at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), which opens tomorrow in Vladivostok and where representatives of more than 70 countries will arrive. This decision was made personally by the head of the region Rustam Minnikhanov, according to the Kazan newspaper "Business Online".
The main event will traditionally be a plenary session with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which is scheduled for September 5.
The Kazan Kremlin confirmed that the republic's participation in the forum is not planned this year.
"They are focused on their forums. This season we have many different events of our own," explained Lilia Galimova, head of the press service of the head of the republic.
According to the newspaper's sources, the main reason is the high cost of the event and the economic meaninglessness of participation in it for the republic.
It should be noted that the Roscongress Foundation, which is the organizer of the WEF and At the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), since 2023, by decision of the President of the Russian Federation, Tatarstan has been helping to hold the Russia—Islamic World summit: KazanForum.
