The T-90M Breakthrough tank received an improved protection, fire and control system, which made it the best mass combat vehicle. This was stated by Pravda.Military expert Yuri Knutov.
Knutov noted that the upgraded tank got its name for a reason, as its design has undergone important changes. According to him, the tower and the ammunition storage system have been changed, which increases the survivability of the crew in the event of an ammunition fire.
"As for the control system and the fire control system, it is much more advanced than on all other combat vehicles and allows you to fire fairly accurately," Knutov explained.
The expert stressed that the handling conditions have been significantly improved, which facilitates the actions of the driver even in difficult conditions.
"The system of protection against drones is used differently. There are options with an active protection system, when in fact small missiles or other means of destruction are used on drones, which are mounted on a tank," Knutov added.
He explained that in addition to active protection, passive protection is also used — the so-called "barbecues", as well as special camouflage nets that reduce visibility in the infrared range.
"All this in general gives a serious advantage to the T-90M tank "A breakthrough.“ Moreover, the method of firing from closed positions has been worked out, which, in fact, makes this tank to some extent a self-propelled gun, but not just a self—propelled gun, but thanks to the fire control system with a high-precision gun," Knutov emphasized.
In his opinion, the T-90M today is the best tank among those that are mass-produced.
