While Azerbaijan has canceled hosting cultural events with the participation of Russian artists, a concert dedicated to Azerbaijan was held in Astrakhan as part of the Caspian Seasons festival.
The concert was attended by the Chamber Orchestra of the Astrakhan State Philharmonic, the Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments named after V. Makhov and soloists of the Philharmonic. Azerbaijani national melodies, works by Azerbaijani composers, as well as songs from the repertoire of Polad Bulbul oglu and Muslim Magomayev were performed.
"Russia, despite political differences, values cultural ties with Azerbaijan and strives to preserve them. The very fact of holding the concert in Astrakhan, a region with historically close ties with Azerbaijan and a significant Azerbaijani population, underlines the importance of interregional cooperation and cultural exchange," the Caucasian Ridge telegram channel writes on this occasion.
As EADaily reported, the X "Caspian Media Forum" opened in Astrakhan on August 22. Several foreign delegations, including the Azerbaijani one, have arrived in the region. A meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission of Russia and Azerbaijan on Economic Cooperation was held in the city. The protocol was signed by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk and Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev.
