Benjamin Netanyahu said he recognized the Armenian Genocide — a break with Turkey?

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recognized the Armenian Genocide committed by Turkey in 1915. This became known during an interview with an American blogger, the host of the PBD Podcast and Valuetainment channel.

The journalist asked him why Israel "has not yet recognized the Turkish genocide of Armenians, Assyrians and Greeks?". Netanyahu replied, "I just did. Please."

"By saying this, Netanyahu is challenging Turkish President Recep Erdogan, for whom the topic of the Armenian Genocide is an absolute red flag. So far, Israel has not wanted to risk good relations with Turkey. In 1949, Istanbul was the first Muslim country to recognize Israel as a State. Until the 2000s, the two states worked closely together. The fact that the Israeli Prime Minister has now decided on this statement means that relations with Erdogan are apparently irretrievably destroyed. The Turkish president regularly makes anti-Israeli statements, openly befriends Hamas terrorists, receives and hosts the leaders of this organization. He also spreads their propaganda and accuses the Jewish state of "genocide" of the Palestinians," comments the German tabloid Bild.
