The head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, said that Ukraine is testing a European analogue of Starlink. It is reported by the French TV channel BFMTV.

According to Zelensky, both Ukraine and Russia are working on an alternative to Starlink, a satellite network used for communication on the battlefield, access to which depends on Elon Musk's approval.

"The Russians are building the equivalent of Starlink together with the Chinese. And they believe that they will complete this project by December 2026. We will not just wait for the Chinese and Russians to launch their own analogue of Starlink... (Kiev) is in the process of creating a similar project with a European country. Of course, we will work with Starlink, but we are also working on another European project. We started testing it," Zelensky said.

He hopes to convince Elon Musk to give Ukraine — with Washington's approval — the opportunity to use a satellite network to launch strikes deep into Russia. "So far, he (Musk) has stated that this will be an escalation. But he may change his mind when he hears more arguments," Zelensky said.

The head of the Kiev regime explained that strikes using Starlink, they say, can "lead to a reduction in exactly the capabilities that Russia uses to prolong the war," and Kiev wants to strike at Russian ballistic missile launchers. The Russian Armed Forces are using more and more ballistic missiles, and Ukraine is sorely lacking interceptors, especially American missiles for the Patriot air defense system, the shortage of which has worsened since the beginning of the war in the Middle East.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine received 675 Patriot missiles in 2023, 364 in 2025 and 264 in 2026.
