US President Donald Trump said that the question of the legitimacy of the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, does not matter for the peace negotiation process at the Ukraine.
He expressed his point of view during a conversation with journalists at a meeting of the presidential cabinet, which was broadcast on the official YouTube channel of the White House.
The American leader reacted to the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky is not a legitimate authority on Ukraine, calling such theses "nonsense."
"It doesn't matter what they say. ...This is all complete nonsense. Everyone is doing posturing," Trump said.
Also, the US president expressed the hope that the conflict on Ukraine will end quickly. It was in this regard that he decided not to introduce new economic sanctions against Russia yet, as he expects that a deal may be concluded soon.
Earlier, Sergey Lavrov said that Russia recognizes the status of Vladimir Zelensky as a de facto leader, but does not see an opportunity to sign documents with him.
Earlier, EADaily reported that the approval rating of US President Donald Trump's foreign policy dropped to 39% - this is the lowest indicator of the second term of the American leader, according to a Gallup poll.
