"Under the procedural guidance of the Kupyansk district Prosecutor's office of the Kharkiv region, a woman was informed of suspicion of theft committed repeatedly, under martial law, and illegal possession of an item that was on the body of the deceased, for mercenary motives (part 4 of Article 185, part 3 of Article 297 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the prosecutor's office said in a statement. telegram channel.
The investigation began after the appeal of the wife of the deceased serviceman, who, upon receiving her husband's body from the morgue, noticed that she did not find a wedding ring. A junior nurse of the Chuguev branch of the Kharkiv Regional Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination came under suspicion. As it turned out, she systematically appropriated the personal belongings of the deceased military.
The suspect allegedly got her hands on mobile phones, chains, wedding rings and other valuables.
"She cut off several rings from the fingers of the deceased with pliers. Later, the woman transferred these items to pawnshops in exchange for cash ... During the search, law enforcement officers seized a large number of jewelry and checks from pawnshops," the prosecutor's office noted.
The investigation continues, other victims are being identified and the involvement of other morgue employees in the crimes committed is being checked.
