The Ukrainian Armed Forces are expecting a Russian offensive in the Zaporozhye region and are building defensive fortifications. This is reported in its report by CNN.
The brigade, which is located near the town of Orekhov, claims that the Russian command is concentrating forces and transferring troops from Kursk region towards Zaporozhye.
"The Russians are preparing for escalation here, that's for sure," said Sergei Skibchik, commander of the communications department of the 65th separate mechanized brigade, promising the British to "stand to the last."
Against this background, construction crews are building anti-drone tunnels in the summer heat to cover more than 100 kilometers of Zaporozhye roads with them. It is noted that old fishing nets are used for this.
They are designed to protect the logistics routes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since "the style of combat is shifting from traditional artillery and tanks to the dominance of unmanned aerial vehicles," the TV crews explain to their audience.
"We are at the technological stage when the affected area increases almost every month. It used to be about 5-7 kilometers, and now it's up to 30 kilometers. So, we need more long-range weapons, and, of course, electronic warfare systems. These things are not enough in all sectors of the front," Skibchik said.
As EADaily reported, anti-drone tunnels are being hastily constructed at all major exits from Kherson of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was stated by the governor of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo.
According to him, in this way the Ukrainian Armed Forces are preparing a safe retreat for themselves when the time comes to retreat from the city.
