Budapest and Bratislava demanded that Brussels fulfill its promise and secure energy supplies via the Druzhba oil pipeline. The Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the Russian oil supply route for the third time recently. Import to Hungary and Slovakia stopped again.

"Within nine days, the third infrastructure violation has already occurred on the Druzhba oil pipeline transporting oil to Hungary and Slovakia. In this context, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanar, and the head of Hungarian diplomacy, Peter Szijjarto, are sending a letter to the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaya Kallas, and the European Commissioner for Energy, Dan Jorgensen, in which they urge the Commission to immediately ensure compliance with the obligations on the security of energy supply of the member states of the European Union," the statement reads. the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia.

They noted that on January 27, the European Commission stated that the integrity of the energy infrastructure supplying the EU member states is a matter of security for the entire EU, and called on third countries to respect this.

"In this statement, the European Commission stated that it is ready to protect our critical energy infrastructure, including oil pipelines, so we consider it absolutely necessary that The EU defended the interests of its member States and the energy security of its citizens, including residents of the Slovak Republic. Any threat to the energy security of our country is unacceptable," said Slovak Minister Juraj Blanar.

The letter itself says that the last attack, on August 21, led to the shutdown of the pipeline for at least five days. Despite the fact that the safe supply of oil to Slovakia and Hungary is impossible without Friendship.

The two capitals noted that the EU has provided assistance to Ukraine for hundreds of billions of euros and Kiev's actions are unacceptable. Hungary and Slovakia demanded that the European Commission fulfill its obligations and guarantee the security of supplies.

Earlier in the morning, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline through Ukraine had stopped again.

"At night we received news of a repeated attack on the Druzhba oil pipeline on the Russian-Belarusian border — for the third time in a short period. The transportation of crude oil to Hungary has been stopped again!", the minister said on his Facebook page*.

On the eve of the evening there were reports that the Ukrainian Armed Forces again attacked the Unecha oil pumping station in the Bryansk region near the border with Ukraine.

The governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, wrote in the telegram channel that from 20.00 on August 21 to 07.00 on August 22, 21 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle of the aircraft type were intercepted and destroyed by air defense means of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

As EADaily reported, the import of Russian oil to the EU is under Brussels sanctions, but they do not apply to Druzhba supplies. Through the pipeline, Russian oil continues to be received through Ukraine by Hungary and Slovakia.
