The United States is ready to cede heavily fortified territories in eastern Ukraine, and this is the price for achieving peace in the war with Russia and Donald Trump's approach to the Nobel Peace Prize, according to the publication of the British edition of The Economist.
White House diplomacy is characterized as "hasty" and "unpredictable." The Economist warns about the possibility of Ukraine losing important eastern territories in favor of Russia as a result of US diplomacy. The article emphasizes:
"In this sense, Donald Trump is more dangerous for Zelensky than Putin."
According to the weekly, Zelensky will find himself in a difficult position, being under pressure from Trump, who forces him to agree to Vladimir Putin's demands.
The publication also emphasizes that the "security guarantees" that Zelensky discussed with Trump are vaguely formulated, which carries another threat to the Ukrainian side.
"Can we rely on these guarantees? At first glance, probably not. It is difficult to imagine anything more destructive to European security than peacekeeping forces that do not receive support when attacked," we read.
