The Ukrainian Armed Forces' attack on the Smolensk nuclear power plant was thwarted — FSB

The Ukrainian Armed Forces today attempted to attack the Smolensk nuclear power plant with the help of a shock UAV. This is reported by the FSB Public Relations Center.

It is noted that the drone was suppressed by electronic warfare (EW).

"On August 17, the electronic warfare forces suppressed an aircraft-type UAV (Ukrainian-made UAV Spis) over the territory of the Smolensk nuclear power plant. Thus, the terrorist attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the nuclear power facility was thwarted," the DSP said in a statement quoted by TASS.

The destruction of the UAV was also reported by the Russian Defense Ministry.

"An attempt of a terrorist attack by the Kiev regime using an aircraft-type UAV on the infrastructure of a nuclear power plant in the Smolensk region has been stopped. The Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle was intercepted in the airspace of the Smolensk region," the department noted.
