Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni plans to attend a meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky in Washington on August 18, Il Fatto Quotidiano reported with reference to Palazzo Chigi.
Meloni should demonstrate her role in the Ukrainian settlement, which is different from the role of other European leaders, the newspaper writes.
Bild, citing sources, reported that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will decide on August 17 whether they will go to Washington to Trump's meeting with Zelensky.
Trump, after a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, told European leaders during a telephone conversation that he supports a plan to end the conflict in Ukraine through the transfer of territories. The American leader will discuss this with Zelensky on August 18 at the White House.
