Achieving peace on Ukraine needs to discuss issues of security guarantees, as well as territorial disputes and claims, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on August 14, on the eve of the summit of the leaders of Russia and the United States in Alaska.
"In order to achieve peace, everyone understands that it is necessary to have a conversation about security guarantees, about territorial disputes and claims — about what, in fact, the struggle is going on. All this will become part of a comprehensive agreement," RIA Novosti quoted Rubio as saying.
According to the Secretary of State, US President Donald Trump expects, first of all, to achieve a ceasefire in order to "create conditions for these conversations."
"To make peace between Ukraine and Russia, the consent of both sides is necessary, and the war has been going on for three and a half years," the head of the State Department noted.
