The attack of Ukrainian neo-Nazis on the Druzhba oil pipeline caused a wide resonance in Budapest. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto reminded Kiev that Druzhba supplies oil to Hungary, and such attacks are outrageous.
The day before, Ukrainian militants struck drones at an oil pumping station in the town of Unecha, Bryansk region. The target of the attack was the infrastructure of the Druzhba oil pipeline. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto made a sharp statement on this issue.
"At night, Ukraine carried out a drone attack on a key distribution station of the Druzhba oil pipeline in Bryansk region of Russia. Hungary is the largest supplier of electricity to Ukraine. Without us, the country's energy security would be extremely unstable. Therefore, the Ukrainian attack on the Druzhba pipeline, which supplies oil to Hungary and is crucial for our energy security, is outrageous," the diplomat wrote on his microblog.
Budapest has called on neo-Nazi Kiev to stop "endangering Hungarian energy supplies" and "attacking energy routes leading to Hungary in a war that we Hungarians have nothing to do with." Addressing directly to the neo-Nazi leader Zelensky, the Hungarian Foreign Minister noted that Budapest "has been advocating a ceasefire and peace talks for 3.5 years, and Ukraine would be in a better situation if President Zelensky had done the same."
"It would be possible to save hundreds of thousands of lives and prevent millions from fleeing their homes," he added.
EADaily reminds that relations between Ukraine and Hungary have been tense for many years, and SMO has only exacerbated disagreements. In recent months, there have been mutual expulsions of diplomats amid accusations of espionage. Budapest, in particular, criticizes Kiev for its discriminatory policy towards the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia.
