Roads and railways, as well as bridges in the countries of the European Union, are not ready to withstand a potential Russian invasion. This "all-propagandist" opinion was expressed by the European Commissioner for Transport Apostolos Dzidzikostas.
Dzidzikostas dared to tell the truth:
"European roads, bridges and railways are not designed for the rapid movement of tanks, soldiers and weapons in the event of a war with Russia. Tanks weighing up to 70 tons sent to the east will get stuck in tunnels and destroy bridges, and military movements will face serious difficulties due to bureaucracy at border crossings."
In this regard The EU is currently developing a strategy for the modernization of several hundred infrastructure facilities, which is designed to enable the deployment of armed forces along four military corridors crossing the continent "within a few hours, a maximum of several days" after a possible attack.
Brussels plans to allocate 17 billion euros for infrastructure modernization. In addition to investments, the EU intends to simplify the border regime in order to avoid bureaucratic delays in the event of a potential conflict. This strategy is a response to NATO's warnings about a possible Russian attack by 2030.
Dzidzikostas said that the military mobility plan will complement the NATO allies' agreement to increase defense spending to 5% of GDP.
"We cannot afford to be unprepared," says the commissioner.
