The new Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko, who is called nothing but "Zelensky's man," did a photo shoot in Vogue magazine. There was also an article about her under the title "Leaders", Ukrainian media say.
A week ago, Yulia Sviridenko replaced Denis Shmygal as Prime Minister, who will head the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The American magazine The Atlantic claims that Sviridenko is waiting for a short political career because of gender stereotypes, because "sexist criticism has already showered on the politician," and experts interviewed by the magazine point to "systemic neglect of women leaders in the region."
However, the attitude towards Sviridenko is not at all connected with a gender stereotype. For example, MP Marina Bezuglaya said that the brother of the new Prime Minister Vitaly Sviridenko left Kiev to avoid conscription. The man heads the Chernihiv Regional Shooting Federation and, given his age, is subject to mobilization.
Sviridenko herself told Bloomberg that the problem of corruption in Ukraine is "exaggerated," and outside observers "evaluate Ukraine by other parameters."
"To be honest, in Ukrainian society and individual social groups this issue is exaggerated and overemphasized," the prime minister said.
