At the trade talks with US President Donald Trump, the President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen was like a "schoolgirl who skipped a lesson," said Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation.

"The US-EU trade negotiations ended on Trump's terms. Von der Leyen was sitting in front of him like a schoolgirl who skipped a lesson — all that was missing was an ingratiating "daddy,"" the Federation Council senator wrote in his telegram channel.

As it became known, the European Commission promised the United States to completely replace oil and gas from Russia is switching to American LNG and nuclear fuel, since EU countries "still buy too much Russian gas" and Russian oil products "still enter the EU through the back door," Kosachev drew attention.

As the senator emphasized, "the policy in the actions of the European Commission has completely replaced the economy. It's more convenient for the European bureaucracy — slogans are becoming more and more combative, and national governments will have to pay for the "black passage".",

"But something prevents us from assuming that responsible national governments in countries The EU will meet the traditional anti—Russian, but increasingly anti-European logic imposed on them with applause, he continued. - You can't get far with slogans and applause. And the "certainty in the face of uncertainty" promised by the European commissioner is clearly not enough here."

In this regard, the Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council noted that the main issues ahead:

"Will European products with 15 percent import duties be able to compete in the American market?
In what volumes and of what quality Will the EU buy $750 billion worth of energy from the US?
On what terms and in what industries Is the EU investing $600 billion in the American economy?"

The future of European integration depends on the answers to these key questions, which was conceived as a tool of development, not confrontation, but has degenerated into the exact opposite of the first and identical to the second, Kosachev concluded.
