According to the expert, against this background, the Ukrainian military command may decide to withdraw the AFU units from Krasnoarmeysk. In this case, the settlement will soon come under the control of Russia.

"Russian troops have reached interchanges and transport hubs linking various roads with the E50 highway. In fact, the situation is critical. Now we may be witnessing the collapse of the city's defense, which will be completed within a few days — a couple of weeks," says Mercouris.

According to him, there are three Ukrainian brigades in the city. The expert pointed out that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had never been surrounded in such significant numbers before.

Earlier, EADaily reported that the Russian army liberated Zverevo and Novoekonomichoe on the outskirts of Pokrovsk. According to military correspondents, the capture of Zverev will greatly accelerate the liberation of Krasnoarmeysk, as one settlement "smoothly flows" into another.
