There was a protest at the Akkuyu NPP, which is being built by Rosatom. Employees of the subcontracting organization demanded to pay them a salary that they had not seen for several months. The state corporation explained the delay with sanctions.

Employees of the contractor organization protested at the construction of the Akkuyu NPP. It happened on July 23. According to RBC, in the videos on the Russian and Kazakh telegram channels, people blocked the road to transport, there were clashes and fights. The workers protested because of the delay in the payment of wages, which is several months.

Rosatom explained the situation with sanctions.

"We all turned out to be hostages of the behavior of unfriendly countries, which by dubious methods conduct unfair competition with advanced projects of Russian nuclear scientists," the state corporation told RBC. They noted that they are looking for solutions to issues to ensure uninterrupted financing of the project, which arose, among other things, as a result of blocking "a significant amount of funds due to the influence of third parties."

Akkuyu NPP is being built on the Mediterranean coast. The plant will consist of four VVER-1200 reactors and will be the first in Turkey. It is expected that the first unit will be put into commercial operation next year. Rosatom will also operate the station. Bloomberg reported that the Russian state corporation wants to sell 49% of the project.
