First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Yagub Eyyubov refused to participate in the meeting of the CIS Economic Council in Moscow.
"Yagub Eyyubov will not attend this event. The reason for this decision is the recent events in Yekaterinburg, the AZAL aircraft shot down by the Russians at the end of last year and the reluctance of the Russian side to take adequate steps to resolve these issues," Trend reports citing a diplomatic source.
It is noted that Eyyubov regularly represented Azerbaijan at CIS events.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed out the need to resolve issues between Russia and Azerbaijan in a partnership manner.
