The Commissioner for Human Rights in Russian Tatyana Moskalkova visited SIZO-1 in Bishkek. This is reported by Sputnik Kyrgyzstan.
During Moskalkova's trip to Kyrgyzstan, representatives of national human rights organizations, as well as special prosecutor Emilbek Urkunbayev and First Deputy chairman of the Penitentiary Service Nurlan Sarchaev visited places of detention and made sure that the rights of suspects and accused were respected.
Commissioner for Human Rights in Kyrgyzstan Jamila Dzhamanbayeva and Tatyana Moskalkova held meetings with 19 people in custody, and also provided legal advice to five citizens with citizenship of both Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
The prisoners did not complain about the conditions of detention, but some of them expressed dissatisfaction with the progress of the investigation of their criminal cases.
During the meetings, an agreement was reached on joint work to review the received appeals.
