The commander of the Akhmat special forces, Apty Alaudinov, said that in the recent award list, which he presented to the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, for awarding the titles of "Hero of Chechnya," there were nine Russians, five Chechens and a Ukrainian.
"Many were very shocked, and the commanding staff, when five Chechens, one Ukrainian and nine Russians became Heroes of the Chechen Republic out of 15 awards signed by Ramzan Akhmatovich Kadyrov," RIA Novosti quoted Alaudinov as saying.
The commander stressed that this is the "true" multinational special forces "Akhmat", and noted that on the new flag of the unit the Orthodox cross is adjacent to the Islamic crescent.
