The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus is following with deep concern the sharp escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. This was announced by the Belarusian Foreign Ministry on June 22.
"We are extremely concerned about reports of strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities carried out by the United States of America," the statement said.
The ministry noted that they consider these actions as an extremely dangerous escalation, bearing unpredictable consequences for the entire region and suffering for the peoples inhabiting it. The Foreign Ministry also stressed that Belarus, as a country that suffered from the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, it is clear that the bombing of nuclear facilities in Iran can lead to dire consequences. In this regard, the ministry appealed to all parties involved in the conflict "with an urgent appeal to show maximum restraint." In addition, the ministry emphasized that the only sustainable solution in this situation is the diplomatic path and compliance with international law.
Recall, on the night of June 22, the United States struck Iran. As stated by US President Donald Trump, the operation against the Iranian nuclear facilities - Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan — was successful. The Russian Foreign Ministry called for an end to aggression in the Middle East and increased efforts to return the situation to the political and diplomatic channel.
