Every tourist wants peace in Abkhazia: an official who disliked Doshiraki was dismissed

The President of Abkhazia Badra Gunba at a meeting with the Minister of Tourism Astamur Logua commented on the situation related to the statements of officials of the Ministry of Tourism, which caused a wide response.

Earlier, an employee of the ministry, Kristina Lakerbaya, said during the round table that the republic does not need tourists buying doshiraki. The short video caused a wave of indignation among commentators on social networks, who recalled that the republic is being restored with Russian money.

"I, like the absolute majority of Abkhazian citizens, am outraged by the statements of the Ministry of Tourism staff addressed to our guests," his press service quotes the President of Abkhazia.

This situation, according to him, damages the credibility of the country.

"Hospitality is what has distinguished our people for centuries. We have been telling with pride since early childhood that it was precisely because of the special respectful attitude towards the guest that the Almighty gave Abkhazia the most beautiful land. I would also like to remind the officials who allow themselves to make such statements, how in post-war Abkhazia we rejoiced at everyone who came to us on vacation. We quite rightly considered the arrival of every tourist as a symbol of a return to peaceful life. I consider it impermissible to make such statements to the guests. The multinational people of Abkhazia are happy to welcome all guests who wish to relax in our country, get acquainted with ancient history, enjoy its beauties, especially with friendly Russia," Gunba said.

According to him, hoteliers, guides, all those who are involved in tourism with their attentive, sincere attitude to tourists have proved that guests in Abkhazia are not divided according to material wealth.

In turn, the Minister of Tourism Astamur Logua informed the head of state that the head of the Department for the reception and issuance of permits Lakerbaya, who made a statement that caused widespread outrage, was relieved of her post.
