The conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping was constructive, it was devoted to the aggravation in the Middle East. This was announced to journalists at a briefing by presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.
"The conversation was of a friendly, constructive nature, and this conversation was mainly devoted to discussing the aggravated situation in the Middle East," he said, calling the topic of the conversation quite logical.
He drew attention to the fact that both sides adhere to identical approaches, strongly condemn Israel's actions that violate the UN Charter and other norms of international law.
"Our leader confirmed Russia's readiness to carry out, if necessary, possible mediation efforts [in the conflict between Israel and Iran]," Ushakov said, adding that Xi Jinping spoke in favor of this kind of mediation, because he believes that it could serve as a de-escalation in the current acute situation.
"Both leaders, taking into account this complicated situation, agreed that they would give commands to the relevant departments and services of the two countries in the coming days to conduct the closest contacts and exchange possible information and possible considerations," the Kremlin spokesman informed.
As Ushakov stressed, "both Moscow and Beijing fundamentally proceed from the fact that the settlement of the current situation and issues related to the Iranian nuclear program has no military solution."
"The settlement can and should be achieved exclusively by political and diplomatic methods," Ushakov pointed out the principled position of the Russian Federation and China, TASS quotes.
According to him, Moscow and Beijing is ready to coordinate approaches to Central Asia.
Putin and Xi Jinping also discussed bilateral issues, including the results of the Chinese leader's May visit to Moscow.
Xi Jinping told Putin about the results of his trip to Kazakhstan.
