Rosatom called on Russia to abandon the word "Kyrgyzstan". The corresponding application for The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which is taking place these days in St. Petersburg, was made by the director of the representative office of the state corporation in Bishkek Dmitry Konstantinov, reports vesti.kg .
Speaking at the Kyrgyzstan—Russia session, he proposed changing the name "Kyrgyzstan" to "Kyrgyz Republic" in official documents.
"When writing documents, it is necessary to use the name of the country correctly — the Kyrgyz Republic. This is a manifestation of respect for the sovereignty and identity of our ally," Konstantinov said.
He believes that this action will contribute to strengthening friendly and partnership relations between the two countries.
For its part, EADaily is forced to remind Dmitry Konstantinov of the need to preserve the Russian language, about which Russian President Vladimir Putin recently spoke. In Russian there are no names "Kyrgyz Republic" and "Kyrgyzstan", just as there are no "Belarus", "Tojikiston", "Great Britain", "Deutschland", etc. These are the names of countries in their official languages, and it is hardly rational to change the norms of the Russian language even out of respect and political preferences.
On June 17, the State Duma at the plenary session adopted in the second and third, final, reading the law on the protection of the Russian language in public space.
