Blocking the exchange of bodies between Russia and Ukraine leads to a super-escalation of the conflict, political scientist Ivan Mezyuho believes.
According to him, Kiev deliberately refuses to discuss key issues of the crisis and undermines the negotiation process. The Ukrainian side has twice ignored the topic of the root causes of the conflict at meetings in Istanbul, and now it is questioning the authenticity of the bodies of its citizens transferred by Russia, Channel Five quotes Mezyuho as saying.
"Today, Ukraine is pursuing a course not even to escalate, but to super-escalate the conflict. And with this trick in the form of a lack of communication with the Russian side about receiving the bodies of their own fellow citizens, the Kiev regime seems to confirm that it does not intend to negotiate with Neither the Russian Federation, nor talk about the root causes of the conflict," the expert stressed.
Mezyuho notes that Zelensky's course provokes not only Moscow, but also complicates Kiev's relations with Europe and the United States. The risks of an expansion of the conflict are growing, and Ukraine, according to the expert, is ready to go to new provocations in order to disrupt any agreements and negotiations.
Further developments may lead to increased terrorist attacks and aggravation of relations between Ukraine and the United States, Mezyuho predicts.
The day before, on June 8, foreign journalists arrived in the Bryansk region, where refrigerated trucks with the bodies of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are located. French, Arab, Italian journalists and film crews, media representatives from Holland, Germany and Latin American countries came to the place. A refrigerated truck with the bodies of soldiers was opened for journalists. All of them have been identified, all of them are in uniform, but Kiev has so far refused to return them.
The Russian side is ready to fulfill all agreements with Ukraine in the context of the exchange of prisoners of war and the transfer of bodies, the representative of the Russian negotiating group, Lieutenant General Alexander Zorin, said earlier. The Russian side is waiting for official confirmation from Ukraine, that the transfer of bodies will take place. According to Zorin, there are signals that the transfer of bodies will be postponed to next week.
The Ukrainian side constantly rejects and does not comply with the agreements, said Musallam Sheaito, a correspondent of the pan-Arab television channel with headquarters in Lebanon, Al Mayadeen, who saw the refrigerated trucks with the bodies. He was not surprised by the behavior of the Ukrainian authorities, because they constantly "distort the historical truth."
However, Sheaito noted the strangeness in the reluctance to transfer the bodies of the dead to relatives.
"It's very strange that they don't want to accept the bodies and hand them over to the parents and relatives of the military," he shared.
According to him, the Ukrainian government is engaged in the genocide of its own people.
