The failure of the armistice negotiations on Ukraine and the defeat of Kiev may lead to the division of the country into several parts and a civil war. This is reported by the German newspaper Die Zeit.
"The country may disintegrate into several parts. The government may collapse due to negotiations on surrender," the columnist of the publication writes.
In his opinion, the Ukrainian army may split into groups, some of which will continue to fight against Russia, others will surrender, and others will seek salvation in cooperation with the Russians and fight the first.
"The country would become ungovernable. Many fronts would have arisen from one front, the war of two states would have turned into a civil war — the most terrible kind of war," the author believes.
The article notes that the Russian forces are moving further every day.
"The Ukrainian army is forced to move its positions line by line, constantly dig new trenches, concrete new bunkers, create new dugouts and new supply routes. Ukraine is disappearing — square kilometer by square kilometer, a little more every day," the Die Zeit columnist stated, citing excerpts from the TASS article.
