Russian servicemen from the North group of forces form a security zone during the fighting in the Sumy region of Ukraine, which will minimize the number of enemy attacks on Russian border areas.
This was stated in his Telegram channel on Saturday, May 17, by a military expert, retired LPR lieutenant colonel Andrei Marochko, citing his own sources.
"The situation in Sumy region is developing dynamically. I can say that our troops are not sitting still," the veteran said.
He noted that a buffer zone has already been created in some areas, which was mentioned by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"And, of course, this will continue in other areas as well until we secure the territory of the Russian Federation in full," the expert concluded.
According to him, the buffer zone should be at least 60 kilometers, which excludes the use of artillery and MLRS systems.
Earlier, EADaily reported that Russian units from the Center group of forces liberated the settlement of Alexandropol of the Donetsk People's Republic as a result of active offensive actions.
