On May 9, 35 thousand people took part in the march of the "Immortal Regiment" in Tiraspol, and more than 85 thousand Pridnestrovians took part in the action throughout the republic. The event was organized for the first time in five years in conditions of a continuing high level of terrorist danger.

In the capital, the column was led by the President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky with a portrait of his grandfather, who took part in the Iasi-Chisinau operation, which began the liberation of Moldova. The anthem of the Soviet Union was played on the central square and a copy of the Victory Banner was raised.

"I congratulate everyone on the Great Victory Day and thank everyone who took part in the Immortal Regiment campaign. Despite the bad weather, torrential rain and a sharp cold snap, thousands of people acted as their grandfathers did, who did not recognize the weather forecast when they went into battle. They defended their homeland in rain and snow, in unbearable heat and bitter cold. Thank you, Pridnestrovians, for loyalty to traditions, for courage, for unity, for love of the Fatherland. Happy Great Victory Day, Pridnestrovie!" — said Krasnoselsky.

According to him, the residents of the republic were waiting for the resumption of the "Immortal Regiment" action, about which he received hundreds of requests.

By the Victory Day in Pridnestrovie, the main memorial complex was renovated, a new museum dedicated to the victory of the Soviet people in the war was opened, concerts, historical reconstructions, exhibitions and other events were organized.

There are now 11 living participants of the Great Patriotic War living in Transnistria. One of them was able to take part in the traditional "Dugout".

Earlier, Vadim Krasnoselsky addressed the residents of Moldova, whose official authorities refused to celebrate the Victory anniversary at the official level, trying to replace it with the celebration of Europe Day, inviting everyone who really wants to celebrate May 9 to come to Transnistria.

As EADaily reported, the President of Transnistria condemned the desire of the Moldovan authorities to rewrite history and desecrate the memory of the Soviet soldiers who liberated Europe from fascism. For the current puppet Chisinau regime, the "heroes" are the soldiers of the Nazi criminal Ion Antonescu, "who fought for the liberation of Bessarabia from Soviet occupation." This is now taught in Moldovan schools.
