The centennial Japanese giant Yokohama has entered the Romanian market, as reported by the Romanian edition Profit.ro . The company is buying a bankrupt tire factory of a Ukrainian billionaire who made Vladimir Zelensky a show business star.
Profit.ro It clarifies that the Japanese corporation Yokohama Rubber, which has a history of more than 107 years, has acquired from Drobeta Turnu Severin a giant tire manufacturing plant for the mining industry, as well as for earthmoving and oversized transport equipment.
The plant, built in the 1970s-1980s, was put up for sale by the judicial liquidator of Euro Tyres Manufacturing SRL, which went bankrupt at the end of January 2025 after almost 7 years of insolvency.
In the second half of last year, the Japanese sent a letter of intent to the management of the company that owns an industrial site with an area of more than 19 hectares in the municipality of Mehedinte regarding the acquisition of Euro Tyres Manufacturing assets.
Data from the judicial authorities of Romania and the United States indicate that Eurotyre SA, a company registered in the British Virgin Islands, is owned by Ukrainian billionaire Igor Kolomoisky❶ and his business partner Gennady Bogolyubov.
