No one asked Ukrainians about the introduction of a NATO course into the constitution — Mushroom

No one was interested in the opinion of Ukrainians about the introduction of a NATO course into the country's constitution. This was stated by Verkhovna Rada deputy Victoria Grib.

She noted that this item was included in the The Basic Law of Ukraine without a referendum.

"We have not always had NATO in our constitution. This was done without a referendum, no one asked people. We first made it, and then we already saw that we were still moving forward in the negotiations…

And if there were no closed iron doors, then perhaps the situation would have been a little different. If we had been accepted into NATO in 2008... then there would have been much more chances to join NATO than when it was already clear… Because countries first of all think about their interests, they are very pragmatic. And then we introduced it into the constitution. I believe — this is my position — that first of all we need to move towards the European Union," Grib said, quoted by Strana.
