Almost two-thirds (60.3%) of the survey participants on the EADaily website consider the sentence of General Ivan Popov a disgrace for Russia. Another 27.5% were undecided on the answer.
Only 12.2% chose the answer option "That's right, let him sit."
The survey "What do you think about the sentence of former General Ivan Popov?" was conducted from April 24 to 28, 2025. 9730 people voted.
As EADaily reported, earlier the sentence of the ex-commander of the 58th Army, Major General Ivan Popov, was called a disgrace by one of the most popular military bloggers in Russia, Yuri Podolyaka (more than 3.1 million subscribers). He called the court itself a trial and petty revenge, which will entail serious risks for Russia.
Recall that since the initiation of the criminal case, the general rejected all charges and addressed an open letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to send him to the front, but there was no public reaction. One way or another, the story with General Popov (as well as with General Surovikin and the former Minister of Defense of the DPR Strelkov) has acquired a media trail, which in SMO conditions is unlikely to benefit.
