With a consistent policy and patience, Tbilisi is able to return Abkhazia and South Ossetia, this opinion was expressed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhizde in an interview with Imedi TV channel.
"I think that with consistent policy and patience it is quite possible to achieve any goal, including our main dream — the restoration of territorial integrity," he said.
According to Kobakhidze, events are developing dynamically, and it is not yet known where the processes will go.
"The solution to this issue will depend on various factors, but with patience and the right policy, everything is possible," the prime minister added.
Georgia on the night of August 8, 2008 fired at South Ossetia from multiple rocket launchers "Grad". Georgian troops attacked the republic and destroyed its capital, the city of Tskhinval. Russia, protecting the residents of South Ossetia, many of whom have taken Russian citizenship, has brought troops into the republic and, after five days of fighting, ousted the Georgian military from there. On August 26 of the same year, Moscow recognized the sovereignty of South Ossetia and another former Georgian autonomy — Abkhazia. The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that this recognition reflects existing realities and is not subject to revision. Georgia still does not recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia and considers them its regions.
