The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, called on Chechens to shorten their beards that are too long and start working, and on Chechen women not to adopt the Arabic style of clothing. He stated this today, September 9, at a meeting with the heads of law enforcement agencies.

"We have men with very long beards. At the same time, they do not attend the collective Friday prayer, do not go to mosques, walk along the avenues around the clock, and do nothing. They have turned long beards and rolled-up trousers into an incomprehensible fashion, and the younger generation is beginning to imitate them. I appeal to them: shorten your beards and wear them in accordance with your religion," Kadyrov said.

In addition, he noted that some women began to "completely cover themselves with bedspreads," adopting an uncharacteristic style of clothing for the republic.

"They should also be encouraged to dress in accordance with Islam, without adopting the Arab style of clothing. We have never worn a burqa," the head of Chechnya summed up.
