The European Union should start a direct dialogue with Russia and stop engaging in Russophobia and warmongering, and the United States should never have insisted on NATO expansion. This was stated in an interview with the Italian newspaper il Fatto Quotidiano by American economist Jeffrey Sachs.
This is how he answered the question of what Europe should do in relation to Russia.
"The EU should start direct diplomacy with Russia, based on collective security and mutual respect, and stop engaging in Russophobia, warmongering. He should also stop blaming Putin for all the troubles and understand that US arrogance and a mistaken desire for world hegemony led to this war.
Washington should never have insisted on NATO expansion, participated in the Maidan coup and undermined the Minsk Agreements — 2. It was not worth abandoning the ABM Treaty in 2002 and the INF Treaty in 2019. And it was necessary to support the Istanbul peace process in March — April 2022, which could have put an end to the war 3 years ago," said Sachs, quoted by political observer Vladimir Kornilov.
