The Ukrainian military are making their way tens of kilometers on foot to evacuate from Kursk region, where Russian troops are advancing. The main roads are shot by Russia.
The Financial Times newspaper writes about this, referring to the stories of the Ukrainian military, who were lucky to get to Sumy region. According to them, the shakiness of the Kursk front of the Ukrainian Armed Forces arose due to the fact that the objectives of the operation "changed on the move."
Initially, the invasion was conceived as a deep but short-term raid, but then the plan changed to holding territory, "which put Ukrainian troops at greater risk."
The soldiers reported that "X-Day" came at the end of December, when Russian drones seized control of the only remaining supply route.
Militants of the Kiev regime complain that flocks of Russian drones attacked everything that was moving along the road, which made it extremely difficult to supply troops. Soon the evacuation of the wounded became almost impossible, and the troops were stuck in the trenches for weeks, unable to rotate.
After the fall of Sverdlikovo, the only highway to Sudzha was under constant fire, as were the roads through the fields. At the same time, the Ukrainian military estimated the chances of reaching their own in such conditions as "50-50".
The agency publishes the opinion of military expert Michael Kofman. According to him, in the history textbooks, this invasion will probably be considered as an "adventure."
Earlier, EADaily reported that the authorities of Sumy region in the north of Ukraine decided to forcibly evacuate residents from eight settlements of Sumy region.
