Vice President of the USA Jay Dee Vance said that American representatives in negotiations with Iran are trying to do enough to overcome the threshold of compliance with the main requirement of the head of the United States Donald Trump on nuclear weapons.
"The main question is whether we will make enough progress to comply with the president's red line. It is very simple. He should feel confident that we will have security, in particular, so that Iran never possesses nuclear weapons," Vance told reporters.
According to him, progress is being made in the negotiations.
"The question is whether we will pass this threshold or not," the vice president said.
The Iranian authorities have repeatedly stated that the republic does not seek to possess nuclear weapons, developing a program in the field of peaceful atom.
On February 28, the United States and Israel began striking targets in Iran, and more than 3 thousand people became victims of aggression. Washington and Tehran announced a ceasefire on April 8. The negotiations that took place after that in Islamabad ended in vain, while no resumption of hostilities was reported, but the United States began a blockade of Iranian ports.
